Why www.katonk.com?

I started this page over 5 years ago (and still working on it...) with the intention of just putting up a few pages about the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and seeing what would happen.  Maybe doing a few tweaks here and there but seeing if the subject was of interest to some people.

I was overwhelmed with the response I did get.

After so many emails I had to expand the site to try and include more information. Contact information, bibliographies, reunions, monuments, current news clips, etc. This site is in it's third incarnation now and probably will see many more in the future.

I want to say thank you to all who have visited, are visiting, and have written to me with kind words, critiques, and questions. It's enriched my understanding of the subject and opened other doors and questions that I otherwise would have not asked or known about.

To the men who served in the 100th Bat./ 442nd RCT and MIS. Thank you. I will try and keep this site with correct information so that others may know your story and that the next generation may appreciate your sacrifices for our freedom.

Next Event:
Memorial Service
3rd Saturday of May 2009
(Armed Forces Day)
, at Robert's Park in Oakland, California.

Gather in the parking lot at 11am

Service is at 12pm noon; pot lock directly afterwards.

E very year members of Company "E" Northern California gather in Robert's Park to remember those that did not make it back from all of the wars that the United States have fought in. This event is not just for the veterans of the 442nd RCT, but open to all who wish to pay their respects to those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. A color guard and speakers will be present, and after a short service there will be a "pot luck" lunch. Everyone is welcome to come.
