Longmont, Colorado Dated: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 10:07:21 ED I live in Longmont, Colorado where the citizens were more helpful than others during the internment. Jimmie Kanemoto, a Longmont resident and his family helped house and find jobs for many Japanese Americans during this time. For their work and the compassion of the citizens of Longmont, a huge pagoda, the "Tower of Compassion" was erected in a beautiful park called Kanemoto Park so the citizens of Longmont would never forget that terrible time. If you ever get to Colorado, you might want to come visit our little town. Thanks again, --C. Harrison |
